Chapter 001 — Journey
Helping people
navigate complexity.
Field note // 001
I started in graphic design, visual communication, brand systems, the kind of work that lives on shelves and packaging. Somewhere along the way, my attention shifted toward the invisible layer: how people understand what they're looking at, how they find their way through something, what happens when a system and a person don't quite meet.
I'm a granddaughter of Japanese immigrants, born and raised in Brazil. Growing up between different cultural references made me attentive to something I'd later keep finding in my work: the same system, experienced in completely different ways by different people. That gap, between how something was designed and how it's actually lived, is where most of my work happens.
Over the past 13 years I've moved between branding, fintech, enterprise platforms, accessibility, and research. The contexts change. The question stays the same: what does this person need to understand, right now, to move forward?

"Good design is a process of questioning."
